Organizations can consider a diverse range of organizational partnership models. Merger is just one of several alternatives, and we’ll examine the benefits and pitfalls of each, along with analytic methods for assessing them. The group will engage in hands-on group exercises and discussion. Participants will be better equipped to answer several big questions: Should we consider restructuring? Workshop: Cultivating Donors and Soliciting Major Gifts

Workshop: Cultivating Donors and Soliciting Major Gifts

Are you leaving money on the table?

According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), individual giving to US charitable organizations totaled more than $258 billion in 2014. Nearly 90% of that was from only 12% of all donors by way of major gifts. Unfortunately, many organizations are missing out on major gifts and leaving money on the table because they don’t have an effective major gifts strategy, which is easier than most people think.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Define what constitutes a major gift for their organization
  • Develop a major gifts strategy - prospect, cultivate, escalate, make the ask, repeat
  • Be a good steward – what that means for major donors
  • Best practices for cultivating repeat gifts
  • Participants are invited to submit related fundraising questions in their RSVP. Carl will do his best to integrate these questions into the workshop, or will be in touch afterwards.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • New and experienced development staff and major gift officers
  • CEOs, Executive Directors and Board members of charitable organizations
  • Administrative professionals who support the major gift solicitation process
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about major gifts and donor cultivation

TICKETS:
Tickets are $20 – enter code “Earlybird1027” before 12am 10/27 to receive $5 off

YNLO is honored to host the "Online Marketing Bootcamp" presented by digital marketing experts The Marketeering Group.  This event is open to non-profits and for profit businesses that have a social pourpose.

So you have an amazing idea.  You started a business.  You’re passionate, love what you do.  You’re helping people. Now how do you let the world know you exist?  By the time you’ve read this sentence, there have been just around 160,000 Google searches.  But search engine marketing is branded as complex, mysterious.  After all, selling online marketing services is what Mike Quayle and Marina Lavochin do for a living.  Online marketing is much easier than you’ve been lead to believe.  This workshop will explain how to improve your online visibility without all the mystery.  Learn to be a better writer, promoter, marketer, and to think about online marketing in a new, better way.

Seattle's Most Talented Talent Show

Seattle’s Most Talented Talent Show (SMT) is a one of a kind event that brings together winners of local area high school talent shows and has them perform for one night, on one stage, to find out who is Seattle’s Most Talented teen.  In our third year the event has grown, and now will include Tacoma’s Most Talented Talent Show as well.  Performers go on to perform around the Puget Sound and have even been hand selected to audition for America’s Got Talent.  Last year these young performers won studio recording time, invitations for talent agency contracts, professional photo shoots, and the support, confidence and encouragement from an entire community.

SMT redefines talent by embracing diversity and providing an opportunity for youths to express their voice through the arts, academics, and their service.  SMT empowers students and builds community.  The fundraiser/talent show is at Seattle University (The Pigott Auditorium) 901 12th Avenue, Seattle.  It’s on Tuesday, May 20th, at 7:00pm.  This year’s theme is “World Champs of Seattle.”

Tickets are $5 for students and children under 12, $15 at the door.  This is a benefit to award youths for their talents and skills, and will raise funds for Seattle-based nonprofits: Angels for Angels, Redeeming Soles, and Unleash The Brilliance.

Young Nonprofit Leaders Organization Meetup - April

YNLO is a space for nonprofit leaders, social entrepreneurs and their organizations to come together and build synergy, community and capacity.

Each meetup features a guest speaker leading a mini workshop on a different facet of running a successful organization, followed by an hour of valuable networking.  We flip traditional networking on its head, instead of trying to sell ourselves, we try to make a difference with each other in the moment.

This month's speaker is Ian Adair, Executive Director of the Martinez Foundation.  Ian has over 17 years of management and fundraising experience in nonprofit and education, having raised more than $40 million.  He has given over 300 professional presentations, managed more than 200 employees and authored curriculum for numerous education programs.

Ian will be presenting on fund development, and what it takes to lead a successful fund development campaign.  His presentation will inspire attendees to begin really looking at how they utilize and recognize their current donor base and how great customer service can motivate their stakeholders to work for them.
